Caledonian Park Friends Group

About

The Caledonian Park Friends Group was formed to bridge the gap between stakeholders, park users and all the other parties with an interest in the welfare of the park.

We liaise and assist the knowledgeable Islington Council environmental and historical teams in their mission to deliver and showcase a small but diverse sample of the habitats and ecosystems to be found in the U.K. and the often-overlooked historical gems in the borough.

Our aim is to assist in developing and protecting the nature, wildlife, amenities and heritage of the park whilst helping make it inclusive and accessible for all.

Our activities range from planting and tending trees, shrubs and plants to clearing up the litter of thoughtless park users. From harvesting apples and sloes to getting knee deep in our pond to do weeding and newt counts (Warning: our resident “All things Wild” expert Amara loves this job, and she believes Wellies and Gloves are for the City Folk).

We meet every Wednesday and Sunday at Tolpuddle Café 10.00 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Everyone is welcome to attend, we provide gloves and tools, a friendly chat and often tea and biscuits too! Link – Support/Contact Us

Here are some of the specialist park groups:

Blooming Gardens – Working on a variety of community led projects this group not only manages the vegetable garden but do other original projects like Mosaic creations for the park.

Don’tdo Anything School – Tend the Formal Hedge gardens they claim.
