About
Where it is/ What Plant/Tree life to look out for: There are four Hedged Gardens that are located on the northwest side of the park.
On entering the park via the North Entrance and turning right you encounter the first two of our Hedge Gardens, The Floral and The Native Hedge gardens. In the first you will find an enclosed hedge area planted with a variety of flowering plants. In the second an enclosed hedge area planted with a variety of native hedges.
To the right of these, near the railing marking the North border of the park you will find our Vegetable Hedge Garden. Here you will find a number of raised beds planted with a variety of seasonal vegetables. Tomatoes, beans, pumpkins to name just a few.
This garden is tended by Hillside Clubhouse, and the produce is used at their foodbank and to help people in need. Please leave the vegetables for those that have worked hard to grow them, or join the group who help tend them.
The final is The Crab Apple Hedge Garden. Found in the same area of the others but closest to The Pond. Easily identifiable by its centre piece Crab Apple Tree this is an ornamental garden with manicured flower beds.
What Insect/Bird/Animal life to look out for: The Hedge Gardens attracts a wide variety of wild visitors, but our most popular guest are pollinators like bees and butterflies. Then there are the birds like sparrows and blackbirds who love the shelter and food to be found in the hedges.
